AMERICAN UNIVERSITY merit scholarships

Below is important information for first-year applicants who wish to be considered for AU’s partial scholarships:

·        Apply for the fall (August) semester, not spring. Fall application deadline is January 15th. Please review our international admissions brochure for application deadlines and requirements.

·        Make sure your application packet is complete and that you submit all items listed on page 4 of the international brochure, including the AU Certificate of Finances Form (AU CFIS) and the required bank letter – each confirming a minimum of US$61,157 on account –  by the appropriate deadline. Plan to have this amount available for each additional year of undergraduate study (up to four years total).

·        You do not have to submit a separate application for AU merit scholarships. All qualified first-year applicants who submit complete application packets by January 15th are automatically considered for eligibility for our partial scholarships. First-year applicants will be notified of any merit awards with their admission letter that is sent in the spring.

·        AU merit scholarships are offered only at the time of admission. There are no further opportunities to apply for AU merit scholarships once you have begun your studies.

·        No increases in scholarship amounts are available from year to year. The initial amount of your AU merit scholarship remains constant for all four years of study.

·        Costs for the 2015-2016 academic year are estimated at US$61,157. This includes tuition, mandatory fees, room, board, insurance and personal expenses. For all subsequent years, expect a 2-3% percent increase in costs each year.
