What is financial aid and why should African Students consider applying for one?

Dearest Students, to go abroad (Europe, America, Asia etc.) for a better education is something that we greatly encourage at H.A.S.

HOWEVER, HERE IS SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: have you noticed that every year thousands of Europeans, Americans, Asians and others, whose aim is not to take up residence in our beloved continent but rather to gather as many resources as possible for the development of their country / solving problems that undermine their country, sail to Africa?

SHOULDN’T WE BE FOLLOWING THIS EXAMPLE? Read more

0 # Mohamed Rudwan 2015-03-30 08:49
I am Mohamed Rudwan from (Darfur Sudan) and I was a student of (Aviation science college in Khartoum), my aim was to gain a scholarship to study abroad and come back to help to build my poor province Darfur. Fortunately I was giving a scholarship by Al-Mustafa university 13 years ago and I was able to acquired (B A) in Economics and (M A) in Shiism and diploma in Computer studies in Iran, and I was able to attain and understand an Iranian cultural background as well, and my aim and my wish for moment is also to attain scholarship in one of high ranking American university to able to exceed my (PHD) and understand an American cultural background as well, so that I can go back to save my poor province( Darfur) from poverty, radicalism , and invest in education to help the youth and to develop my own community. So I need your help to make my dream comes true.
Sincerely your future student Mohamed Rudwan
Thank you and May God bless you

Bonsoir
Cordialement votre

• Contacting the international student office of the university for assistance
• Contacting the graduate student office of the university for assistance - requesting permission to do a part-time job for instance
• In addition, using the search engine, you can look for scholarships that fit your specific profile. Remember to make your search as broad as possible. What this means is limit only one or two of the criteria if your initial search does not yield many results. Here is the address of our search engine: www.helpforafricanstudents.org /.../

Hi Martin
Please follow the advice we often give students: start by making sure that your choice of your future program is well-planned. Do you have a career plan? Is the demand high for professionals with the degree you are after? Have you met with some faculty/profess ionals to investigate whether you are currently on the right path? Is there something better you qualify for?
I highly recommend that you pay special attention to our newsletters for they are loaded with advice.

As for funding opportunities, using the search engine, you can look for scholarships that

Dear Habtemariam,
Many governmental/NG O scholarships target students looking to get PhD’s abroad, and universities around the world rely heavily on PhD students to carry out various research projects. As a consequence, research assistantship positions become available every day in universities across Europe, America, and Asia. It is important to note that many of these opportunities are never published over the internet, so the best way to go about it is to prepare a nice CV and cover letter and start visiting the websites of universities in your targeted field and country. Look for openings and collect the emails of faculty whose research interests coincide with yours. Then send them an email—many reply, you know, and if you have done great things research–wise in the past you can get lucky; what is more, there is little to no competition at times.
How do you find faculty more likely to hire? Those with NIH grant money are listed here: projectreporter.nih.gov/.../

Note that women, especially those of developing nations, have the biggest chance of obtaining a scholarship. Your chances are even greater when you have good grades. Note that when dealing with government/NGO scholarships, having a great plan to impart serious changes in your community/count ry after your graduation can also increase your chances tremendously. There are a number of scholarships on our website for women. Try checking the 'scholarships for women' box on the search engine and leaving all the other criteria blank.
We wish you the best!

Motivation Letter of why I wish to join Phd., Course in Development studies.

Dear Admission Officer,

Due to the crucial concern of Business Administration within the Developing country such as Rwanda and Africa in general, I resolved to undertake this course for much better responding to this great crisis.

I will need to understand what we mean by the Business Administration. Later on I will search these two terms their commonalities, differences and complementarity .

After having understood the definition, the theory and its use, I will go back to the Rwandan society, study its nature and apply the learnt theory in order to develop our economy development systematically specifically in the high schools. This Phd., program will enhance my understanding on development and their implications in worldwide, Africa, regional and particularly in Rwanda.

Ndagijimana Paul

Hello there Akaseng! ;-)
Congratulations on obtaining your bachelor's!

Hello Japhet!
Unfortunately, scholarships for medicine/nursin g/professional degrees (university type scholarships, that is) tend to be rare. However, the GOOD news is that NGO/government funded scholarships do target professional degrees. You need to be very convincing in your application - how important is it that you get the scholarship? are professionals with that particular specializations rare in your country etc... etc....Using the search engine, you can look for scholarships that
fit your specific profile. Remember to make your search as broad as

When you have a heart to help your country, government scholarships are a great way to go. In your application be convincing: why should they give the scholarship to you and not another student? are professionals in your field desperately needed in your country? if so why? can your country train such a professional? (If not, they are more likely to sponsor you abroad).

Best wishes!

Dear Yohannes,
Please follow the advice we often give students: start by making sure that your choice of your future program is well-planned. Do you have a career plan? Is the demand high for professionals with the degree you are after? Have you met with some faculty/profess ionals to investigate whether you are currently on the right path? Is there something better you qualify for?
I highly recommend that you pay special attention to our newsletters for they are loaded with advice.

As for funding opportunities, using the search engine, you can look for scholarships that

possible. What this means is limit your criteria to 1, 2 or 3 if your initial search does not yield many results. Here is the address of our search engine: www.helpforafricanstudents.org /.../ once you locate one or more scholarships that suit your needs, feel
free to ask us for advice/support on the application steps (CV, letter

When you have a heart to help your country, government scholarships are a great way to go. In your application be convincing: why should they give the scholarship to you and not another student? are professionals in your field desperately needed in your country? if so why? can your country train such a professional? (If not, they are more likely to sponsor you abroad).

Dear Abdelmuniem,
Sorry to hear about your financial troubles. We hope our website can be of help to you.
Then send them an email—many reply, you know, and if you have done great things research–wise in the pass you can get lucky; what is more, there is little to no competition at times.
How do you find faculty more likely to hire? Those with NIH grant money are listed here: projectreporter.nih.gov/.../
Another option is our search engine: www.helpforafricanstudents.org /.../
Best wishes!

Hi Bukola!
Unfortunately, scholarships for medicine/nursin g/professional degrees (university type scholarships, that is) tend to be rare. However, the GOOD news is that NGO/government funded scholarships do target professional degrees AND people who want to help their country. You need to be very convincing in your application - how important is it that you get the scholarship? are professionals with that particular specializations rare in your country etc... etc....Using the search engine, you can look for scholarships that

Why do you want that other degree? Which position are you targeting? what is the demand for that type of professional in your country/abroad? do you know what other things will give you and edge once you hit the job market? etc... etc...

Hello Kevin
Follow the advice I gave Ms Domche below
: start by making sure that your choice of your future Program is very well plan. Do you have a career plan? is the demand high for professional with the degree you are after? Have you met with some faculty/profess ional to investigate whether you are currently on the right path? Is there something better you qualify for? Do you have a career plan?....
I highly recommend that you pay special attention to our newsletters for they are loaded with advice.

Speaking of education, always remember that there is no bigger mistake than starting a program without knowing where it fits in a career plan. Make sure you do have a career plan. Why do you want that other degree? Which position are you targeting? what is the demand for that type of professional in your country/abroad? do you know what other things will give you and edge once you hit the job market? etc... etc...
As for funding opportunities Using the search engine, you can look for scholarships that
fit your specific profile. Remember to make your search as broad as
possible. What this means is limit your criteria to 2 or 3 if your initial search yield not much results.
Be sure you read this article over and over: helpforafricanstudents.org/... /...

Hello Kenneth

When you have at heart to help your country, government scholarships are a great way to go. In your application be convincing: why should they give the scholarship to you and not another student? are professionals in your field desperately needed in your country? if so why? can your country trained such professional? (I hope no)
