Fellowship and grant recipients undergo a highly competitive selection process. Academic excellence, commitment to improving the human condition, and the promise of continued impact are cornerstones of the rigorous criteria. Respected scholars, researchers, teachers, and practitioners review the fellowship and grant applications. These reviewers are either experts in specialized fields of study or community leaders who recognize the power of collaboration at the local level.
International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate studies at accredited U.S. institutions are supported. Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree by September 30, 2012 and must have applied to their proposed institutions of study by the time of the application.

I am a Mauritian and am a holder of bachelor of physical education. I am working at the Ministry of Youth and Sport as a Sports Officer and also a liason officer in between the Ministry and commission of Sports for women. I wish very much to have a scholarship on MBA in sports field or any course in connection with sports and its promotion. My ambition is to help every girl or women to particpate in any physical activity in african countries.
When you have at heart to help your country, government scholarships are a great way to go. In your application be convincing: why should they give the scholarship to you and not another student? are professionals in your field desperately needed in your country? if so why? can your country trained such professional? (I hope no)
Use our search engine www.helpforafricanstudents.org /.../
Here is something I highly recommend too:

It looks like the above scholarship only covers master's degrees and higher. However, please continue to search our search engine for more opportunities!
Remember to make your search as broad as
possible. What this means is limit your criteria to 1, 2 or 3 if your initial search does not yield many results. Once you locate one or more scholarships that suit your needs, feel
free to ask us for advice/support on the application steps (CV, letter
of motivation etc....)
Be sure you read this article over and over: helpforafricanstudents.org/... /...
Note that women, especially those of developing nations, have the biggest chance of obtaining a scholarship. Your chances are even greater when you have good grades. Note that when dealing with government/NGO scholarships, having a great plan to impart serious changes in your community/count ry after your graduation can also increase your chances tremendously. There are a number of scholarships on our website for women. Try checking the 'scholarships for women' box on the search engine and leaving all the other criteria blank.
We wish you the best!
This post only goes to the H.A.S. site. Go ahead and contact the scholarship sponsor directly and start working on your application.

You ask me compare to others those looking for an opportunity to get into a PhD program abroad have a better chance to find something. Many governmental/NG O scholarship target them which is great but added to that, universities around the world heavily rely on PhD students to carry various research project. As a consequence research assistantship positions become available every day in universities across Europe, America, and Asia. It is important to note that many of these opportunities are never publicized over the internet so the best way to go about it is to prepare a nice CV and cover letter and start visiting website of universities in your targeted field and country looking for openings and also collecting the emails of faculty whose research interest coincide with yours. After this is done send them an email many reply you know and if you have done great things research –wise in the pass you can get lucky; what more there is little to no competition at times
How do you find faculty more likely to hire? Those with NIH grant money are listed here: projectreporter.nih.gov/.../

Please follow the advice we often give students: start by making sure that your choice of your future Program is very well plan. Do you have a career plan? is the demand high for professional with the degree you are after? Have you met with some faculty/profess ional to investigate whether you are currently on the right path? Is there something better you qualify for? Do you have a career plan?....
I highly recommend that you pay special attention to our newsletters for they are loaded with advice.
Speaking of education, always remember that there is no bigger mistake than starting a program without knowing where it fits in a career plan. Make sure you do have a career plan. Why do you want that other degree? Which position are you targeting? what is the demand for that type of professional in your country/abroad? do you know what other things will give you and edge once you hit the job market? etc... etc...
